Pools: Should I build a pool or buy a house that has one?
Less than 5% of all Encanterra® homeowners have a pool. Of course, we have the best resort pools on the planet so many think, “Why deal with my own?” On the other side, privacy along with the amazing look and feel of a pool creates an inviting environment. If buying or building a pool, spending $50,000 or so is typically not necessary and if your home ever needs to be appraised, you will not get that return in value. At most, appraisers will give $12,000-20,000 in value regardless of the size, shape, or features. Bottom line, buy the highest quality filtration systems, very best equipment, and be 100% sure your pool pump is the very best, as older and dated pool pumps account for nearly 20% of your overall electric bill. The newer pumps run slower and could lower your average monthly bill by as much as $50 per month, and you won’t wake your neighbors when it’s running.
